A brief history of Richmond upon ThamesA brief history of Richmond upon Thames

The area of Richmond St. Mary Magdalene shaped the Municipal Borough of Richmond from 1890. Richmond Palace was an illustrious home on the River Thames that remained in the sixteenth and seventeenth hundreds of years. It lay upstream and on the contrary bank from the Palace of Westminster, which was arranged nine miles toward the northeast. It was raised in 1501 by Henry VII, some time ago known as Earl of Richmond, out of appreciation for which the estate of Sheen had as of late been renamed as Richmond later to become Richmond upon Thames.
